"The Difference between Shiites and Crusaders"

Dear Sahib,

My name is Abdul and I have a question about my friend. If my friend, a Sunni man, marries a Shiite woman, and the children grow up to be atheists and move to Europe, will the children then be considered infidels, crusaders, or both (assuming they are allowed to live)?

To a Sunni man, is the Shiite woman an infidel only, but not a crusader? And why would he marry an infidel?
